Do you remember how you developed a love for reading?

I really don’t – being a Bookseller’s Daughter it was just something I was literally born into. Life was always full of books. If I hadn’t been into reading it wouldn’t have been a problem, but as far as I can remember it’s been such a huge part of my life.

Where do you usually read?

On my daily commute, at home in bed or on the sofa…wherever I can really!

Do you prefer to read one book at a time or several at once?

I almost always have at least two books on the go. My out and about book is usually not too large so it’s easy to carry around, whereas at home I tend to read larger tomes, hardbacks and for some reason more non-fiction.

What is your favourite genre?

Fantasy and historical fiction without a doubt. Although I also love classics and biography.

Is there a genre you will not read?

Not really, although I do tend not to read what is known as chic-lit (I really hate that term!) anymore but only because it doesn’t interest me at this point in my life, it may well do again in the future. I seem to go through phases with my reading as well where I’m all about a certain genre for a while before moving on.

Do you have a favourite book?

I don’t think I can say that I do. There are books that will stay with my forever like Memoirs of a Geisha, Sophie’s World or The Ortori Series. But I honestly don’t think I can pick a favourite.

What is your least favourite book?

Again I don’t really have one – I tend to make pretty good reading choices and if I REALLY didn’t like something I think I would put it down.

What is the longest book you have ever read?

Ah good question. Off the top of my head without going through my shelves possibly Memoirs of Cleopatra or The Autobiography of Henry VIII by Margaret George.

What was the last book you bought?

Trouble with Lichen by John Wyndham.

Do you prefer library books or buying books?

What are you currently reading?

The second book in the Dragon Riders of Pern series.

Where do you buy your books?

Local bookshops, Waterstones, Charity shops and Amazon when I want something specific.

Do you ever pre-order books?

Have never done this so far.

How many books do you buy a month?

On average 1 – 2 but some months a lot more, some months hardly any. If I find an amazing independent bookshop I usually end up buying something!

How do you feel about second hand charity shop books?

Generally good. It’s a good way to support charities. However sometimes I worry about not supporting the author through doing this, so I try to mix it up.

Do you keep your read and to-be-read books together?

Yes everything just kept together – I have a bit of a system going on at the moment but generally just do what looks nice.

Do you plan to read all the books you own?

Yes absolutely and feel good about it.

What do you do with books you own that you know won’t be re-read?

Usually give them on to charity shops or to a friend if I think they’d enjoy it.

Have you ever donated books?

Yes, as I said above this is my go to for getting rid of books when they’ve outlived their time on my shelves!

Have you ever been on a book buying ban?

Not really, but I do try to be good if I know my TBR has crept up to unmanageable amounts.

Do you think you own too many books?
No I don’t. They are my passion and they all fit on the shelves I have so I feel happy with that.
